How Does a Solar Light Work?
Organic photovoltaic cells capture sunlight during the day to charge the batteries, which then power the light at night. Since the lights are powered by solar energy, they need to be placed in an area that receives plenty of sunlight, ideally eight to ten hours or more per day.
Living in a Rainy Region?
It’s not as easy, but you can still install rechargeable solar lights even in a rainy region. We have solar lights with a separate solar module that can be placed three to five meters away, great for brightening up a dark outdoor area. If you live in a rainy or winter area, your solar lights will still work, but they will be less powerful.
My Solar Light Isn’t Working Anymore?
Usually, the cause of malfunction with your lights is the battery. Sometimes the batteries don’t charge or hold the charge. Our best advice is to replace the rechargeable battery with a normal battery, and you will quickly find out why your solar light is not working. It is very rare for the solar energy module itself to be the issue.
To learn more, see our maintenance guide.
How to Recharge a Solar Light without Sunlight?
Solar cells continue to store solar energy even in dim light or through a glass. So you can recharge your solar lights in indirect sunlight. However, the brightness will be lower and won’t last as long.
