How Do Solar Lights Work?

New generation photovoltaic cells absorb sunlight during the day to charge the rechargeable batteries, which then power the bulb at night. As the lights are powered by solar energy, they need to be placed in a location that receives maximum sunlight, ideally eight to ten hours or more per day.

Living in a Winter Region?

It’s not as easy, but you can still install solar-powered lights even in a rainy region. We have solar lights with a detached solar panel connected by a cable that can range from one to ten meters, perfect for outdoor use in the dark. If you live in a rainy or wintry area, your solar lights will still work, but they will be weaker.

My Solar Light Doesn’t Work Anymore?

Usually, the culprit for a malfunctioning light is the battery. It often happens that the batteries don’t charge or they don’t hold a charge. Our best advice is to replace the solar battery with a regular battery and you’ll immediately know why your solar light isn’t working anymore. It’s very rare that the solar module is the issue.

How to Charge a Solar Light Without Sunlight?

Solar cells continue to absorb solar energy even on cloudy days or through ice. So you can charge your solar lights without direct sunlight. However, the brightness will be less powerful and last for a shorter time.
